Jacobs Announces February Veteran of the Month

(Erie County, N.Y.) – Congressman Chris Jacobs (NY-27) has designated Donald Lanternier of Lockport as the New York 27th Congressional District Veteran of the Month.
“The Veteran of the Month award honors veterans in our community who not only selflessly served our nation but are also dedicated members of their communities,” Jacobs said. “Donald honorably served our nation during the Korean War, but he returned home following his service and has worked tirelessly to improve our Western New York community for over six decades. He embodies the true meaning of dedicated and selfless service, and it is an honor to present him with this recognition.”
Donald Lanternier served from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War and was stationed in Pusan, Seoul, and Uijongbu. He retired from Armed Services with the rank of Private First Class and began a career with Verizon. He would later become a Justice of the Peace for Pendleton and served as President of the St. Paul’s Church Council, the Pendleton Lions Club, the Wendelville Volunteer Fire Company, and the Niagara County Magistrates Association. In addition, he is a current member of several local organizations, including the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Korean Veterans Association, Pendleton Veterans Association, and the Fireman’s Association of New York.
